Create an Account

Create an account to begin the application process. If you already have an account, you can log directly into the Admission Portal.

Admission Criteria and Considerations

Rowland Hall seeks highly motivated students of great promise—students who are creative, compassionate, and eager to collaborate in all pursuits, in and out of the classroom. We are especially interested in young people who are inclined to be of service to others within their communities. The Rowland Hall Admission Office strives to create a community that is racially, religiously, and socioeconomically diverse; we welcome students from a wide variety of backgrounds with an equally wide set of passions and interests.

Once all application materials have been received, and the applicant has been assessed, the applicant's file is reviewed by the Admission Committee. This committee includes members of the Admission Team, as well as administrators and faculty from each division in the school. Decision letters will be communicated through the Application Portal.

Siblings of current students and children of alumni, teachers, and staff are given special consideration in the admission process but are not guaranteed enrollment. Please note: applicants for 3PreK must be three years of age by September 1 to enroll.

Complete Required Items

Next, complete all required items in the Admission Portal. 

For Beginning School (3PreK, 4PreK, and kindergarten), required items include a parent questionnaire, a scheduled playdate (or video assessment, if applying from out of town), teacher recommendations*, and a Zoom meeting.

For Lower School (grades 1–5), required items include a parent questionnaire, teacher recommendations*, report cards*, an age-appropriate assessment, and a Zoom meeting.

For Middle School and Upper School (grades 6–12), required items include a parent questionnaire, an applicant questionnaire, teacher recommendations from math/science and English/history*, a counselor/advisor recommendation*, transcripts*, a student essay, and an interview. Testing is optional.

*When requesting documents from your current school, it is generally better to wait. Transcripts and report cards will need to include first semester grades, and recommendations are better requested after a teacher has had time to get to know the student.

A $60 fee is required and can be paid by credit card or check. If you need a fee waiver, please email Mary Anne Wetzel and she will be happy to provide one.

All application forms are due by January 31. Decision letters will be posted to the Application Portal on March 3.

Complete the Financial Aid Application

If applying for financial aid, create an account and complete the application. This application is also due by January 31.
